Here is tonight’s Widespread Panic sow from N. Myrtle Beach. A sold out and packed show. When we arrived inside, Chris Rabold was located on the floor in front of the board on the floor, much the same as he was 2 years ago. The only difference, he had security put up a mini tapers section right next to him! Talk about taking care of the tapers! My hat is off to my good friend Mr. Rabold. I thank him and CW for the awesome job tonight and all the time. As long as I am dishing out compliments, thank you Paul, the lights continue to excel! I shall leak word to Preston for you!
I tried so hard to get connected to the internet. Rayner and Scott were providing a Smart Phone and we just could not get it to tether. I finally pulled out my cell and streamed with it. I knew the sound was not going to be very good, but I figured it was better than nothing! Nice 1st night of the tour. A few rough spots, but also quite a few A list songs, especially to open up a tour with. Love Tractor>Chilly>B Of D>Chilly, wow, right out of the gate. More ice cubes than water were tossed for the Chilly. Papa’s Home sandwich with a Walkin’ in the middle was quite nice.
The second set had a very interesting layout. Space Wrangler just did not sound quite right to me. Just was not in sync, but they slid into Bowl Legged! I jotted down Cissy Strut riff in parenthesis, but soon realized it was the song and changed it on m setlist. What a great surprise. Then back into Bowl Legged. Jack was next and perhaps it was me, but they really did not nail this version. That was quickly forgotten when they hit us hard with Machine>Barstools. I had my Satisfied shirt on, but that did not prompt that song tonight. then a big fat Surprise, split with a Jam and Drums, followed by ARLENE. Here is a song that I would pick if I wanted to incite the crowd! It works every time! The floor was bonkers. This led into the set closer, I’m Not Alone, again, one that is on my A list. I called for a Knockin’ encore before the show started. Well, first was Up All Night, then it went into Knockin’!
Great hangin’ with Charles and Ashley, Penny, Cheryl, Mindy, Carissa, Lilly, Rayner and Scott, Col George, Gordon and Kelly, JT, John and Mike, Justin, Ray, and the rest of the gang.
We had a 45 minute ride back, and nothing was open but Waffle house or McDonald’s. We hit Mcd’s and I know I will pay form the Double 1/4 pounder with Cheese Meal tomorrow!
Enjoy show # 78 of 2010!
